Fine Forgiveness Coupons

Hey Word Out-ers,

A quick anecdotal survey (our higher-ups are interested):

1) Have any of you used the $10 fine forgiveness coupon you get from signing up?

2) Have any of you been reading down your fines in participating branches?

Alan H. is a web librarian who knows that the plural of anecdote is not data, but sometimes finds them useful anyway.

I was hoping to use it at the end of the summer...it's not going to expire by then, is it?

@Sue: The $10 coupon is good until September 30, 2009.

o wow
really??

i haven't used it... i don't have any fines :D

will the $10 coupon feature be available next summer???
(sorry, i'm not being greedy...)

I don't have any fines right now, so I haven't exactly used it yet. But I think it's a great idea, still! :D

yes i have used the coupon. it's great. thanks.

Haha just printed one out, I'm going to wait for all of my fines to accumulate and sweep'em all out! >:D

Ha I dont need to use it.

I went to lib. today and got the book 'wake', cant wait to read it.
I am very not patient.

I havent used it yet but I think its a great idea. I know so many people who wont go back to the library because of a high fine...

The REALLY sad( well, for me atleast) thing was, thAt just a DAY BEFORE I knew about WordOut!, I had paid all my fines. So, yeah, well, I almost always get fined at the wrong time or/ decide to pay up at the wrong time. Now my coupon(worth $10) will be wasted on my 60 cents of a fine. I just know that I'm gonna get fined again in winter...now call me a pshycic, or what.

i got some fines, maybe i will use the copuon to pay it all off

no i never used my coupon yet
and what do you mean by reading down fines? how do you do it?

@S. Sivanesan: At branches participating in the Word Out program this year (and at some others, ask at your local branch) you can get coupons to lower your library fines by signing in with staff members when spending time in the library. You can get more details at your local branch, especially if they're Word Out participants - http://torontopubliclibrary.typepad.com/ysrc2009/participating.html

I love this coupon. I haven't used it though.

I still need 2 get a coupon. I'll try and get it ASAP.

Have u ever read this book called "the cellist of Sarajevo"? U need 2, Its so good.

will there be promos like this next year?
because i find this great.

-same thing happened to me. i paid my fines before i even get to use the coupon :/

I don't have any fines so I didn't have a chance to use it. But I think it was a good idea to get more teens to return to the library.

I don't have any fines so I didn't use it yet, but the coupon itself is great.

It looks like alot of people don't have any fines. I had like a 21$ fine once and I hadn't lost any books. I had just borrowed way too many. It's too bad I didn't have this coupon.

dont have any fines yet =D!
so havent needed to use it

I used mine just the other day!
I had fines up to 9.80 which i was going to pay but was lucky to sign up and get them forgiven!
I had the fines from end of the year ISU's and was glad i didnt have to end up payin :)

Yea, I used one of these coupons last year, they help, so thank-you library people :D
