OMG! this is a wonderful opportunity. I really hope I could come with my sister, but we live in the northwest... Being a writer has always been my dream and this workshop can actually make it true!

I agree, this is such a great learning opportunity for young writers like me. I'm looking forward to the workshop, although it's pretty far from my house too. Most of all, I am looking forward to meeting other kids and teens who have similar interests to me. Hopefully I can improve my writing skills, and eventually become a great writer.

OMG!!! I'm writing my own novel right now. This could be a great opportunity for me.I will be there!

I just realized I can't go, I am going to be at Lake Saint George for Camp...Awww.. :(

Sounds AMAZING. I wish it was on a weekend so more can come =)

wow that sounds pretty fun. I agree, it would have been better if it was on a weekend so others can come as well.

This sounds like great fun. Although, I won't be able to make it! =(

do we need to get any samples of our writing for the workshop?

Ah, non! I missed it. :(
Is there going to be another session like it?

I would luv to go but i can't :(
could there be another session in Scarbrough??

OMG i love writing! i wna go! but like isn't there nything more local?? like Gowseca said is there like nything like tht in scarbrough???

Wow....this is a wonderful opportunity for young writers like me.....i have written many sories and my freinds think they are worth publishing so I really want to come but I can't because my mum and dad are at work and I have to babysit my sister )=....please try to have this workshop at the albion library at a more convenient time.....thanx

To everyone asking for workshops like this at a library closer to you: find out who looks after teen services at your branch and ask them! They can make it happen, but it really helps to know there's interest in their area.

Most participating branches are doing some Word Out! affiliated programs this summer (see the list of them under the "Participating Branches" section of the site). Ask your nearest participating branch what's going on this summer, or check out the library events listing on RAMP at http://programs.torontopubliclibrary.ca/listings/ramp/libraryprograms/current.html

I post Word Out! branch programs as I find out about them, so expect to see more in the future.

Oshin: I don't think it's required, but "come with questions" sounds open enough that you probably could bring some writing samples.

I know Susan and Ken both read this blog (and occasionally post), so they may chime in with more information. :)

wow that's awesome i've always loved to write, now i can have the chance to try nd get better. this is great

This workshop sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun, plus a great learning experience!

i've tried writing this story...n my cousin gave me some ideas on what to write..n at last it ended up fill all the pages in my rough book..

Oshin: Yes, you're welcome to bring some of your work. You'll have a chance to share it with the other writers at the workshop. Though, it's totally optional and voluntary. If others are coming who don't want to bring samples of their writing, that is perfectly okay.

For those who mentioned that they'd like a workshop closer to them, I'll second Alan's post about talking to librarians at the library close to where you live. Let them know you'd like an opportunity to meet other writers and learn more about writing. I'm a librarian and run an ongoing group for young writers at North York Central Library. I started the group because some teens approached me and told me they wanted one. (If you'd like to come to the group, our next meeting is July 23, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at North York Central Library, Room 2. Ages 12-19. The library is at 5120 Yonge St. right at the North York Centre subway stop.)

Also, watch for Young Voices winter workshops--usually in February and March every year. There are three or four of them and we place them all across the city, so maybe one of them will be easy for you to get to.

Looking forward to meeting some of you next Wednesday!

This sounds very interesting! I always wanted to attend these workshops, but I always hear about them too late. Thanks for the posting!

Man, the TPL keeps getting better and better! I would love to attend this writing workshop. I really hope I could brush up on my writing skills.

omg i wish i could go but i'm busy. which suks.

Though writing activities have never really interested me, i am hoping to change that by visiting this workshop and sharing some of my writing. I am planning to join the YAG at my library and planning to get them to have more workshops like this one.

this is really good, because, i've recently started writing a book out of a little inspiration, and i call it "Moonbeams" i would really like to get it published... so far, i've typed until chapter 4... i've even made my cover page on the computer....
i would definitely like to participate in this workshop... :D

can i register on the phone, or by e-mail???

It really did sound good, too bad i couldn't go, i ope the people who went had fun
