Read this!
This is a book review.
This book is not on the booklist for the summer reading club.
Personally I think that this is one of the best books I have ever read.
The book is entitled: Suicide Notes and it is by the author Michael Thomas Ford.
The book is a fast paced, witty, and insightful novel about a young man who has attempted suicide and is now having to spend 45 days in the psych ward of his local hospital.
The novel is 45 chapters long and each chapters is a day in his life at the hospital.
Written in first person our narrator tells us about life inside the hospital, about the other patients, the nurses and doctors, the other staff, but what he neglects to mention is why he is there and what events brought him to the point of taking his life.
As the 45 days progress we come to get to know our narrator and learn about him as he learns about himself.
This is an excellently written novel that I found to be very satisfying. The characters seemed real to me and the situations they were in also mirrored reality, but without being boring.
I think this book is very much worth reading. I am already planning on reading it again.

Sounds like a worthy enough book! I'm going to give it a try!

I need to read some interesting books soon...and the title seems enticing enough.I'm gonna put it on hold.

That does sound like a pretty intruiging book. The cover and title are also interesting. I mean, the words "Suicide Notes" don't seem to match up with the baby blue background and the noraml looking trash can... It makes me want to give it a try!
...Btw, I know that we're "not supposed to judge books by their covers", but as my friend once said, aren't covers made to represent the stories inside them?

Hey Edmee
You are right, that you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover - but that cover does have a great deal to do with selling the book.

Seems as if the idea of the book has a lot of potential and should create quite a bit of interest. Hopefully, though, the story will realistically reflect the emotions of someone who has almost committed suicide. It's a very precarious subject; I hope to read the book and see how it turns out.

The cover is definitely an eye-catcher. I'd like to read it too!

I remember I once did an english project on the topic of suicide. It was hard for me to relate to a suicidal one's feelings but gradually, i began to understand more and more through research. Coming upon this book, I hope after reading I can be able to understand more of the things that I didn't quite understand through my project and therefore look forward to reading it!

Has anybody entered the secret code obtained from a book mark and if they have, what are we supposed to do in order to be entered for the prize

Adesuwa: The secret code can be entered in the TOP SECRET area of the site, but it's not necessary to do so to be entered for the prize.
See the "Prizes" area for how you become eligible for this year's prizes.
