Nonfiction Book for August 3: The Skateboarding Field Manual by Ryan Stutt

Graphic Novel for August 3: Burnout by Rebecca Donner
When Danni and her mother move to a remote logging community, she finds herself forced to share a bedroom with her new sort-of step-brother. Things get hot between them when she discovers what he’s doing when he sneaks out at night. A fiery story of love and environmental activism.
These are actually pretty cool books! I'd love to get my hands on 'wake' and 'burnout', especially 'wake'; the whole idea of it is really cool and really gripping from what I can tell from the summary. Skateboarding's not really my thing though so I wont read that one.

Mary: glad to hear it. The books were selected by librarians from the youth collections committee (basically, the librarians who select teen books for the system) and they chose some great stuff.

To me, the concept of "Wake" does seem very interesting. The idea of her Janie becoming the participant in the dreams evokes reader interest and adds a bit of supernatural element to it.

These are some interesting books that I myself will read and others should read to.

Christine: try Deadly Little Secret, it's a very inetersting book. One of the main characters has this ability to predict future by touch, it's called psychometry.

"Wake" sounds really interesting. Some really good recommendations!

I agree "Wake" is a good recommendation. This also reminds me of this manga I read where this girl can travel to a different world by dreaming. It's a really good book, but i forgot the title. :(
Though I wish they made a sequal for it.

By the way, do you guys like manga or anime?
If so, please recommend.
This summer is my catching up time before school starts. :D

Christine: You should also try "Evermore" and maybe try watching Smallville. Smallville is kind of like Superman...well, it is, but it showcases Superman's like "growing up" kind of thing. lol...not sure how to explain it, but yea..

It sure took a long time for the skateboarding craze to hit Canada. I remember I was at my cousin's place in San Fran two years ago, and he asked me how come I couldn't skateboard... and I had to say that we don't really skateboard up in Canada.

Burnout:
Interesting title, huh? It's also the name of that racing game... you now which one I'm talking about. And by environmental activism, do you mean environmental terrorism?(just kidding!)
Wake looks very scary, but it has a nice concept.
P.S. Happy Canada Day tomorrow!!
Looking forward to the trip I'm taking and the fireworks!!

I have been hearing and seeing a lot of compliments towards the novel, Wake. It sounds really interesting. I think... I'll give it a chance. If so many people are complimenting towards it, it has to be good.
