This book is so amazing. You will not want to put it down until you've finished. Trust me, I read it through my classes. Anyways, it starts off with Cassel Sharpe, the protagonist, hanging off of his boarding school roof in just his underwear. From there it just keeps getting better. Cassel comes from a family of curseworkers, people who have the ability to manipulate memories and dreams among other things. However, Cassel is the only one in his family who is not a curseworker. He tries hard to make himself useful, to show that he is just as competent as any curseworker. He struggles with his differences, all the while trying to cope with the memory and guilt of murdering his best friend. That's right, Cassel murdered his best friend!!!!! If all that isn't stressful enough, he realizes that his brothers are lying to him about something of grave importance and Cassel is determined to find out the truth. Holly Black has written this book extremely well and it's is filled with suspense and intensity. You will be so glad you read this book. It's very different from anything I've ever read and I loved it. And when you're done, you still have the next two books to look forward to. READ IT. It's not even like those books that are kinda good, it is full on awesome. I want to see a movie.
