I'm broke... If I wasn't, you'd see me barging through Indigo Chapters looking to buy this INCREDIBLE book!! I might make somebody buy it for my birthday… Just thinking about it makes me all tingly! Owning my very own copy of this book? AWESOME!

One of my friends -- who happens to be a very picky reader -- read this book and she kept on telling me how great it was! And she was always telling me excerpts from this book that would make me laugh out loud!! I started to love the books and character before I even laid a hand on the book, and when she told me she's going to let me borrow it, you wouldn't believe how excited I was!!

This book is told in 2 points of views. The girl main character is Lucy and the male MC is Ed (Edward Phil Skye, I think it's a cool name!).

Lucy's family is weird. Her mom lives in the house while her dad lives in the shed behind the house. Lucy knows her parents are getting a divorce no matter how much they say that it's a temporary thing -- just until her mom finishes writing her novel and her dad finishes writing his next act (he's a comedian/magician).

On the night that they finished Year Twelve, Lucy and her friends Daisy and Jazz decided to stay out all night going on adventures! Lucy wanted to finally find Shadow, the graffiti artist whose work pops up on walls and they're as stunning and creative as they are beautiful! She has never met him but in her head she already has an image of him, how he'd be splattered with paint and would talk about art. She planned a whole night of looking for him, finding him and their conversations. What she didn't plan was bumping into Ed, the guy who dropped out of school in year 10 and also, the guy who she happened to punch in the nose on their first date...!!

Ed is Shadow. (I didn't spoil a thing by telling you that because you can totally tell from the summary and you find it out in literally Chapter 2 when it's in Ed's POV!) He pours out his feelings, his thoughts, his interests on walls. It's his way of letting out all the hopelessness, sadness and any other emotion. However, Ed can't read... He just can't. His friend Leo -- the one who usually crashes at his place and his mother looks at like a second child, also the one known as Poet, he writes the words on the walls after Ed's finished painting -- writes for him. Ed would say what it was what he wanted to write and Leo would write it down on paper, not tweaking a thing.

Ed used to work at an art store owned by Bert. Bert became a role model of some sort to Ed, Bert was the guidance, inspiration, and critique of his works. However, Bert died of a heart attack in aisle 3 (which is much better than isle 4!). Now, Ed's broke, jobless and his mom is already having a hard enough time trying to pay the bills and buy food.

Ed, Leo and another one of their friends, Dylan, are out on the night they finished Year 12 (except Ed who dropped out two years ago). They see Lucy, the girl who broke Ed's nose on their first date and never called or apologized, Daisy -- Dylan's girlfriend who he had egged that afternoon in the sense of celebration for the end of Year 12 and she, for some reason, is mad a Dylan. Who can guess why?! -- and Jazz -- who has an eye for Leo and the feeling is mutual.

They all go on adventures together that involves dancing (Daisy once with a person names Gorilla), Lucy running over Ed with her bike... (accidentally), the girls going to the bathroom in groups to talk about the guys and the guys going to the bathroom together to talk about the girls ("that's messed up" -Leo), and trying to find out who Shadow and Poet are on the girls' part when they were right under their noses...

When I finished this book, I was like

Good lord, I think I'm gonna pass out

I didn't pass out but I was seriously paralyzed and was just amazed and mind-blown...

This book contains a lot of stuff about Art and Poetry and honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of either of those things. However, this book made me not care that I don't like Poetry, I like Poet/Leo's poems, anyways! They are amazing, intriguing and beautiful! They were incredible and even if you still don't like them, it's no matter!!

The writing was also beautiful and I will definitely be checking out some of the books written by Cath Crowley.

I loved more or less all the characters in the book. They made me smile and laugh. This book is an all-night adventure that is not to be missed! I highly, highly recommend picking it up and giving it a shot!
