Learn to Speak FashionIf I were to describe myself, ‘well dressed’ or ‘fashionable’ probably wouldn’t be terms I would choose. My idea of dressing up is wearing clothes that don’t have any visible stains, and I don’t think I’ve owned either an iron or a hairbrush in over a decade. I tried to tie a bow tie once, but after I came close to throttling myself I decided to stick to the clip on variety.

In other words, I’m not exactly your typical fashion blogger.

The WORN ArchiveAnd yet, I’ve become increasingly fascinated with the world of fashion and design. I love watching Project Runway (seriously, Tim Gunn is awesome, amiright?). I’m constantly finding out about amazing designers who are breaking ground by using new techniques and technologies to create clothing and accessories. And I'm always reading news stories the tie fashion into other issues I care about, be it a garment factory collapse in Bangladesh or a celebrity thoughtlessly donning a First Nations headdress.

I’m discovering that design and the fashion community plays a huge role in my world, regardless of how clueless I am when I go shopping. So I’ve decided to take it upon myself to learn more about this industry, its history, its issues and its amazing possibilities. And maybe (just MAYBE) by the end of the summer I’ll have figured out how to tie a bowtie.
