We know how important a fast and responsive website is to you. As a result we are carefully launching the beta site in order to evaluate how the performance stands up as more and more people use it.
Over a few days in early March you may see a link to try out the new site when you visit the web catalogue. You may see it during one visit and then during another visit you may not. This is because we have multiple servers that run the catalogue and the link is being placed on one server at a time.
This type of testing is known as A/B Testing or Bucket Testing and is commonly used to test variations of website features or designs. In this case we're bucket testing for performance monitoring purposes.
So, there you have it. If you have come here by way of a search engine and not our beta site by all means join in and give us feedback on http://beta.torontopubliclibrary.ca.
