Get up close to the luscious gowns and fans designed for Shaw's latest production of Lady Windermere's Fan, by Oscar Wilde.  The show closed on October 19th and Shaw's Design Director William Schmuck delivered the dresses this past Friday.  With the help of his assistants, he created a display at the entrance to the Toronto Reference Library.  The period represented by the dresses is early 1890s, the beginning of a fashion era chronicled through fashion plates which are currently on display in the Library's TD Gallery.

Here are some of the dresses currently on loan from the Shaw Festival and on display until January 5, 2014. The exhibit is free and open during library hours.  Free guided tours of the exhibit are scheduled for November 7th and 14th at 2:00 pm.  Meet in front of the Gallery on the main floor of the Toronto Reference Library.
