City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) is about a fifteen-year-old girl, Clary Fray who heads out to the Pandemonium Club with her friends in New York City and witnesses a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos carrying bizarre weapons. She had no idea what anything meant. Then the body disappears into thin air. Back at the apartment, Clary finds the place deserted. Except, that is, for the giant, slobbering, poisonous demon that bites her. She kills the demon by herself, but not before she's bitten and passes out. Poisoned, Clary is then carried to the Institute by Jace, who introduces her to a few other Shadowhunters. Worried about her missing mother, Clary takes Jace back to her apartment to investigate.

I recommend this book because it's just a good book, especially if you enjoy reading fantasy. Often times fantasy novels are unique because of the story line. The author has created great characters that correspond greatly. I have only read one book from this series, but if you are a fantasy reader, then this is your book to read!
