Headed to The Word on the Street this weekend at Harbourfront Centre? We are too! On Saturday, Toronto Public Library (TPL) is presenting three discussions about the impact of technology on civil society. Then we’re back on Sunday to take over the Brigantine Patio to showcase our incredible collections, services, spaces, technology and staff.

One card. Endless Possibilities.

Toronto Public Library adult library card

We’ll be signing people up for TPL memberships on the spot. If you, or someone you’re coming with, hasn’t used the library in ages or doesn’t have a library card, let’s fix that. Anyone who works, or goes to school, or owns property or lives in Toronto is eligible for a free TPL card, so be sure to bring the appropriate ID to avoid disappointment.

Read.

A person reading at the library.

Celebrating and nurturing the joy of reading are our roots, and it’s what we do best. Meet some of our expert librarians to discover your next great read, take on TPL’s Reading Challenge, and hear about our vast collection of books in multiple formats and languages, and the literary programs presented in branches across Toronto.

Learn.

Small business class

Catch up on all the flexible, accessible learning opportunities for every phase of your life at TPL. Whether you’re in school, developing a new skill set or feeding a new curiosity, the library offers plenty of ways to help you continue your lifelong learning journey.

Create.

Two kids building robots

Get up close with some of the creation tech and tools accessible at our branches, in our Digital Innovation Hubs and Pop-Up Learning Labs. Chat with staff about the free talks and workshops we host across the city covering coding, robotics, sewing, virtual reality, 3D design and more.

Connect.

Teens at a poetry slam.

TPL is where Torontonians come together to connect with each other, with their neighbourhoods and everything we have to offer. Learn about library branches, how we serve Toronto in the community and how to meet, collaborate and learn from those around us.

Ready, Set, GO!

Toddler choosing books at a bookshelf

The library is a place for exploration, and we’re here to help your child dive into whatever interests, perplexes and excites them. Come meet with a children’s librarian, join us for a group storytime, get hands-on with robotics, enter the Design a Bookmark contest, build with KEVA planks, or just snuggle up with your little one and enjoy a book together.

Toronto Public Library Foundation.

Toronto Public Library Foundation merchandise for sale, ranging in price from $20-35

Staff from the Toronto Public Library Foundation will be on-site with “I’m Library People” merchandise available for purchase. Partial proceeds from all sales donated to Toronto Public Library. Be sure to have your photo taken in front of the social media wall to tell your friends and followers that you're a TPL supporter!

And More.

Toronto Public Library Bookmobile at Word on the Street 2018

Our Bookmobile will be parked by the Natrel Pond all day. Come on board, browse the collection and borrow something, so be sure to bring your TPL card! Don’t worry, you can return whatever you borrow that day to any branch.

Adult Literacy learner and tutor

Meet staff from our Adult Literacy Program at booth #LL04 on Literacy Lane, which is just outside of the Brigantine Patio. They’ll have information about the resources available to adult learners and how to become a volunteer tutor. The team will also be playing community Scrabble for you to join in on!

See You Soon!

We look forward to seeing you this weekend at the Word on the Street! Be sure to come by, say hi and learn something new about your Toronto Public Library.
