Book Ends North Has Reopened
Book Ends North reopened on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 10 am after being closed for nearly three years. The popular used bookstore, which sells withdrawn library materials and library donations at excellent prices, shut its doors in December 2016 when North York Central Library closed for major renovations.
Despite the first snowfall of the season, a crowd gathered outside the doors just before 10 am, eager for the opportunity to browse the shelves. It only took a few minutes before the store was full of eager customers including one who was ready to buy the books he had spotted on the shelves through the windows as he had eagerly waited for the store to open.
After a lot of hard work and many helping hands, the volunteers of Friends of Toronto Public Library - North Chapter were thrilled to be able to open the doors of Book Ends North again. Proceeds from bookstore sales support programs and services of Toronto Public Library.
Since it began in 1993, Friends of Toronto Public Library - North Chapter has raised over 1 million dollars in support of literacy programs at the Toronto Public Library through sales at Book End North. With prices ranging from $0.50 to $5 per item, and with the majority priced under a dollar, that is a lot of sales!
Book Ends North has moved from its previous location in the concourse level of North York Central Library, but it has not moved far. It is now located across the hallway from the previous location. It is next to Memorial Hall, at west end of the concourse level of 5150 Yonge Street.
The hours of operation of Book Ends North are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm.
We hope you'll come out and see what's in store!
