Toronto Public Library presents The Power of the Press Image A panel discussion with Toronto Star photographers

Toronto Public Library kicks off its Exposed: Toronto Star Photographic Archive exhibition with a panel discussion featuring some of this city’s top photographers and photojournalists, past and present. The Power of the Press Image: A Panel Discussion with Toronto Star Photographers is upcoming this Thursday April 23 at 6 pm in the Elizabeth Beeton Auditorium in the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street.

 

Award-winning photographers from the Toronto Star will discuss some of the paper's iconic images, what makes a powerful press image and how the Toronto Star's approach to photojournalism has changed over time.

 

Photographer Richard Lautens moderates the discussion with panelists Tony Bock, Rick Madonikand Boris Spremo, Order of Canada.

 

Exposed: Highlights from the Toronto Star Photograph Archive is currently open in the TD Gallery on the main floor of Toronto Reference Library. The exhibit runs until June 14, 2015 and is generously sponsored by TD Bank Group. 

 

Exposed presents some of the memorable images that graced the pages of Canada’s largest daily newspaper. Powerful and provocative, these photographs were the lens through which Toronto Star readers witnessed the defining moments of the 20th century.
