Music lovers and history buffs can check out “The History of Caribbean Music in Toronto” presented by author, music historian and cultural critic, Klive Walker. This presentation takes place at our City Hall branch at 10:30 am. Space is limited, so be sure to register in advance.

Connect with a Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP) Worker

The library has settlement workers who offer one-on-one help and group programs to assist newcomers with important topics such as searching for a job, getting a driver’s license, learning English and much more. Contact LSP Workers directly to learn more about the help they can provide, both in-person and remotely.

In-person LSP programs take place at library branches, while online LSP programs take place via a third-party platform. Settlement workers can provide guidance on using these platforms. Here are some upcoming programs:

Online language support

1) English Conversation Circle: Steps to English Fluency and Discover Canada

2) IELTS Preparation Series

In-person language support

If you are looking for a supportive environment to practise your English or French skills in-person, you may be interested in the Library’s English and French Conversation Circles. These are informal and friendly spaces where you can improve your language skills and make friends too.

Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP) is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
