Online Tools for Learning English
From books to classes to online tools, the Toronto Public Library has plenty of resources that can help you learn or improve your English. The Toronto Public Library also offers many online tools that you can take advantage of using your library card. Here are just a few of the tools that are available for you:
Books & Classes
Toronto Public Library has a collection of ESL books for adults and children. To browse our collection, or place an item on hold, take a look at our online catalogue.
Currently, nine of our branches offer free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes that you can register for! To find more information and a class near you, visit our Learn English webpage.
Mango Languages
With your library card, you get full access to Mango Languages. This tool offers online lessons that you can complete at your own pace! There are 71 languages that you can use Mango Languages to learn. One of these is English; there are lessons tailored for different mother tongues.
Learning Express Library
Learning Express Library offers practice tests and answers that will help you prepare for many different assessments including TOEIC, TOEFL, and the Canadian Citizenship Test.
Road to IELTS
If you are preparing for the IELTS, be sure to access the Road to IELTS - General Training Module and the Road to IELTS - Academic Training Module that are available using your library card.
Both of these tools offer online interactive activities, practice tests and answers, aimed at learners who are pursuing post-secondary education, work experience or professional registration in an English speaking environment.
