Many events are taking place throughout the city to mark the 151st Canada Day. How will you be spending your Canada Day weekend? With so much to do, it is hard to decide!

But what comes to mind when you think of Canada? Great Canadian symbols or a great land? The Maple Leafs or maple syrup? Whether you are a newcomer or have always called Canada home, enjoying the festivities of Canada Day is open to all.

The Discover Canada The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship study guide is available as a download (PDF), audio file or you can pick up a print copy from the library.  

Toronto Reference Library has a free "Discover Canada" Citizenship Education Mentoring Circle - Summer Session. This 10-week program is for landed immigrants and convention refugees, 19 years and older with LINC Level 4 and higher. There are many more citizenship and ESL classes occurring at libraries across the city. 

You can also learn so much about Canada through these two databases. Both are free to use right from home with your Toronto Public Library card. Canada in Context has full-text articles, videos, audio files and vetted websites on a broad range of topics, people, places and events. Learning Express Library provides access to many practice tests including Canadian citizenship, TOEIC, TOEFL iBT, math, grammar and writing.
