Design-a-Bookmark Contest 2021: Start the Art!
TPL’s annual Design-A-Bookmark Contest began on October 1. All children ages 13 and under are invited to submit a design to any open library branch or bookmobile by October 31 at 5:00 pm. Contest entry forms are available in all open branches, on bookmobiles, and can be downloaded from the children's websites: Ready for Reading Birth to 5 and TPL Kids.
How are bookmarks judged?
Entries are judged on theme, originality and design. The Elizabeth Cleaver Design Award also recognizes outstanding artistic merit.
Bookmarks are judged in three age categories:
- Up to 6 years
- 7 to 9 years
- 10 to 13 years
One winner is selected from each age group at each open branch or bookmobile. These winners then compete to become one of TPL’s 12 Grand Award winners or 4 Elizabeth Cleaver Design Award winners. The 16 winning bookmarks for 2021 are printed and will be available in all TPL branches in late February 2021.
What do kids win?
If a child wins at their local branch, they win a prize book. If they are one of the 16 winners at the final round of judging, they win a prize book, 100 copies of their bookmark, and an invitation to attend an Awards Ceremony in February.
Past winners
Take a look at some of our past winners, but remind your child that their own original ideas are best.
