Are you working for one of Canada's Top 100 Employers?
It's a list I look for every year. For the past 15 years, the best and brightest employers in Canada have been named. Each fall, Mediacorp Canada, announces the winners of this competition. More than just a mere list, the editorial board explains with each corporate entry, what is so great about working for a particluar company.
The Globe and Mail publishes the list as a special supplement. This year it apeared in the October 21, 2013 issue of the paper. Mediacorp is Canada's largest publisher of employment related periodicals and guides. It operates the employment search engine eluta.ca.
The companies that made it to the top 100 represent all areas of business - including educational intitutions, financial, law firms, manufacturers, hospitals - they are all there.
Each company is rated on eight key areas including:
- Physical workplace
- Work and social atmosphere
- Health, financial and family benefits
- Vacation and time off
- Employee communications
- Performance management
- Training and skills development
- Community involvement.
But are these the things that are important to employees? According to a survey done by CareerBuilder.com, quoted in the Globe and Mail supplement, topping the list is more money, followed by better benefits and flexible work schedules.
Have a look - whether you are seeking employment or thinking about changing jobs, it is good to know what's out there.
