What's in World Book Online for students?

April 5, 2011 | Janet | Comments (1)

World Book Online offers much more than the contents of the print encyclopedia. There is a kids version in both English and French, and a Spanish version for students.

The World Book Online Info Finder lists science projects and biographies, current events headlines, and a section on how to do research.  World Book Online Reference Centre provides news updates from the CBC and Reuters, research tools like dictionaries, path finders and primary sources as well as computer and web tutorials, how to's, government resources and more.

A quick way to get to World Book Online - at Find Your Way, click on Articles & online research, then click on Encyclopedias & Dictionaries which takes you to a list which includes World Book Online.

When demonstrating a database such as World Book Online which requires a library card login you can use the following (not for the public to use) -

Library card = dbaccess

Password = get2dbs

For the full description see the World Book Online information sheet (S:\Electronic Products Information Sheets and User Guides\World Book Online).
