Celebrating Seniors' Month
This June, we celebrate Seniors' Month!
Toronto Public Library has an array of special programs this month to help celebrate Seniors' Month. Health topics include important workshops on diabetes prevention, late life depression and fall prevention. Now we don't just want to focus on the concerns of aging, so TPL is also offering a number of fun and engaging programs like preserving family heirlooms, board game parties and movie matinees!
Now if you are like me and you are fortunate enough to have active and healthy parents or grandparents that just happen to be seniors, you know that healthy living is not defined by your age. If I can gloat for a moment, my parents are world dragon boat champions, they just took a month-long cycling trip around the Netherlands and Germany, and my father is entering his first body building competition at the end of the month; oh did I mention they are both in their sixties! Talk about healthy role models.
So although it is important to support seniors in later life, let's not forget that healthy living is a lifelong goal. Looking for a little inspiration? Here are some new books to keep us all living healthy and feeling young.
Stay healthy friends!
