Introducing our new Digital Access Card!
Wish you had easy access to TPL’s digital collections but don’t yet have a library card? If you live in Toronto and you’re over the age of 13, you can now quickly and easily register for the new TPL Digital Access Card. With it, you get free instant access to all of TPL’s digital collections – including ebooks, eaudiobooks, emagazines and newspapers, streaming movies and music, databases and more!
You can register for a Digital Access Card by completing the online application. You will be asked to provide your name, Toronto address and other information.
If your information can be fully validated by the online system, you will be issued a Digital Access Card that expires in one year.
If your information can not be fully validated, you will be issued a temporary Digital Access Card that expires in 30 days. In order to continue accessing digital resources and services, you will need to visit a branch with identification and have your temporary Digital Access Card number converted to a full-service card.
You will receive confirmation of your registration in an email, along with your new Digital Access Card number. Use it to log into your account and to access all of TPL’s digital resources.
If you’d like to place holds or borrow physical library materials, you’ll need to visit us in-person at one of our branches to convert your Digital Access Card to a full service TPL library card.
At this time, the TPL Digital Access Card is available to Toronto residents 13 years and older who do not have an existing TPL library card. We will work on extending eligibility to children and those who are not residents but work or go to school or own property in Toronto.
