The information in this blog post is no longer accurate. For the latest information on borrowing materials and placing holds, see the Using the Library section of our webpage.

Now that the library's offering curbside pickup of holds, we want to make it faster and easier for you to get the books and movies you want. To give you better access, we've changed our holds policies for new feature DVDs and Best Bets.

New feature DVDs

Until recently, you had to wait six months to place a hold on a new feature DVD.  But that's no longer the case – as of June 12, 2020, as soon as new DVDs appear in the catalogue, you'll be able to place them on hold. (This is a permanent change. )

Note that during the closure, we weren't able to get any new books or DVDs ready for circulation. Once we start processing new material again, feature DVDs will appear in the catalogue, and you'll be able to place them on hold.

Best Bets

Best Bets are copies of popular, high-demand adult fiction and nonfiction books that are usually not available for holds or renewals to make them more available in branches. But right now you can't browse our shelves in person, so we're making these books both holdable and renewable. This means more access to new and popular books, and shorter holds lists.

This change is temporary, until in-person browsing is available again.

We hope these changes will help you to get what you want more quickly!
