The rainbow pillars at Yorkville Branch.

Since Toronto's first officially recognized Gay Pride day in 1991, Toronto Public Library has boasted a strong and growing collection of books, movies and magazines for the LGBTQ2S+ community. While we offer these materials at every library throughout the city, our Yorkville Branch houses a collection with a special focus on these items.

This year, in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, in consultation with our employee-run Pride Alliance, the library has decided to rename this collection The Pride Collection. In addition, we've made the collection easier to explore online.

Visit the Pride Collection webpage to browse the latest books on gender studies, civil rights, Queer theory, parenting, arts, health and more for LGBTQ2S+ and allied readers. Get staff recommendations on the best LGBTQ2S+ books for children, adults and teens. Better still, visit Yorkville branch to browse the full collection, including magazines and DVDs.
