The winner of this year's Scotiabank Giller prize was announced last night at a pandemic appropriate gala. How to Pronounce Knife by Souvankham Thammavongsa is this year's recipient of the $100, 000 prize. Thammavongsa was born in a Lao refugee camp and came to Canada when she was 1 year old. How to Pronounce Knife, a collection of short stories, is her debut fiction release although she has published 4 acclaimed poetry books previously.
