Scotiabank Giller Prize Longlist for 2017 Announced
Jack Rabinovitch created the Giller Prize in 1994 to celebrate his late wife Doris Giller, literary editor at the Toronto Star. Today the prize released its first longlist since Rabinovitch's death in August 2017.

The prize is one of the most lucrative in Canadian literature with a $100,000 prize for the winning author. Shortlisted authors each receive $10,000. The shortlist will be announced on October 2. The award will be presented at a gala on November 20.
