Fiction Addict

I've always thought of myself as an addicted reader - piles of books on my night table (in fact most tables), bookshelves crammed & overflowing, a novel tucked into my purse - you get the idea.

Then I met a woman, who mentioned casually that one of the great things about living in the 21st century was that she enjoyed having 4 different books in 4 different formats on the go at the same time - she was listening to an audio book in her car, had an eaudiobook on her player, an ebook on her reader and a hardcover or paperback on her nightstand (promo here - all the books were from the library)!

My definition of 'addicted' reader shifted at this point as I had to accept that I didn't have her level of commitment and utter flexibility (earbuds bother me and I often forget to charge my reader).  However I did find her delight quite inspiring and I am determined to find comfortable earbuds and constantly check the batteries in my electronic gadgets - I'll have to think about the CD's though - I've often missed my subway stop because I'm totally absorbed in my book - I'm afraid my dubious driving might escalate to 'dangerous' if I was caught up in a deliciously exciting story.

I wonder what other formats will be around 10 years from now.....thoughts?
