**Updated** Website Is Not Online

Just a quick note to let you know that starting around 2 PM today, the Library's internet connection stopped working. This means you cannot get to our website or catalogue and check your account, place holds or find the hours of branches.

We're working with our internet service provider to get our services back on-line as soon as possible.  Thank you for your patience.

*UPDATE* - we came back online just before midnight.

Did somebody sever a cable between TPL Murray Ross & Bell Alness?

I did a traceroute and it didn't get very far before it timed out.

I seem to recall some founding principle of the internet was redundancy...

This isn't the first time this has happened with y'all either.

Hi L.A. & Chris - not sure about a severed cable, haven't heard the details. Our IT crew worked with the ISP and we were back online just before midnight last night. Thanks for your patience and comments.

I also agree that TPL needs redundancy with its internet connection. The connection from the library to the Internet is not that important IMO (it only affects those inside the library).

However, the main web servers' connection is really important, as many people use the catalog to check for holds, renew items, and look for the hours of opening.

And I hope they are seperated too, so that those who are downloading huge files inside the libraries won't affect others searching for books from the catalog.
