Ask A Librarian Beta Links on the Catalogue
Toronto Public Library is always looking for ways to make it easier for you to get the help you need.
Starting May 5th, for two weeks, you will see a new set of links on the catalogue aimed at providing you quick access to help where you need it.
To help us make sure we can meet demand we elected to test this with a small set of customers. As a result you will see the links on some visits to the catalogue and not on others during the two week period. We hope to make the links permanent very soon for all your catalogue visits.

I think this is a great idea!

Interesting idea!
Questions? Well, why do you list items for which you don't have a copy or any idea when you will get one and You should list those titles from the Reference section somewhere else since they cannot be taken out or put some sort of warning.

Excellent idea and enhancement to your TPL site which, by the way, I find to be quite amazing and very well designed as far as convenience goes. Thanks !!

I read weblog and clicked comments at the bottom and I was linked into comments from 2008. Huh? I had to do a search to discover the more recent comments. Odd navigation. But odd navigation seems to be par for the course on this re-design.
In 2008 comments I read this post:

Why is it when you click on "Your Account" above (and on the TPL's main site) you aren't taken to your account after you log in -- but rather to the search page?
-------
Why, over 6 months later has this not been fixed. It is particularly annoying for those of us on dial-up. Is there no elementary fix for an obvious linking error? Does it need to be beta-tested for the next 6 months too?
It makes me nervous that you can yadda yadda in this weblog about the fine points of library science and the miracles of new communication technologies and outreach mandates etc, but no one seems to be taking care of obvious and basic problems on the website. Are there no worker bees where you are?

Hi Diane,
Thanks for the comment, please be assured that we are working to resolve basic issues such as the one you mention. This issue in particular is being worked on for our next phase of our website.
Thanks,
Dara
