Kathleen A. Hicks' newly published series, Our Heritage, was mentioned in Cynthia's blog earlier this month.  The series includes nine local histories of the communities that now form the City of Mississauga.  Some of the research for these books was conducted at the Toronto Reference Library, in the Baldwin Room, Special Collections.

This photograph of Hamilton's Store and Post Office, reprinted in Hicks' history of Port Credit, was reproduced from the Canadian Historical Picture Collection:

Images of Toronto and other Ontario communities are being digitized and many can be found by searching the Digital Collections of Toronto Public Library.  Since not all pictures have been digitized, you may still want to visit the Baldwin Room and browse the entire collection of documentary art which includes photographs, paintings, and drawings.

Reproductions may be ordered from originals stored in the Baldwin Room on the 4th floor of the Toronto Reference Library. Instructions for ordering digital reproductions are posted on the Toronto Public Library website.
