Teen Review: Stranger Things
Review by Zara, age 13
Stranger Things is the hit Netflix TV series created by the Duffer brothers. The TV show has to be one of Netflix’s best productions and should be binge watched ASAP. The series is filled with all kinds of science fiction and supernatural events all too great to be existing. Stranger Things takes place in the fictional rural town Hawkins, Indiana during the 1980s. From the beginning, the audience is clearly introduced to most of the main characters: Michael, Dustin, Lucas, Will and Michael’s family. The four friends mentioned are seen playing a game at Michael’s house. When it's time for them to depart on their bikes at night, Will goes missing thus introducing the problem. Everything taking place after his disappearance, is indubitably “strange” (title reference!). Anyway, the audience is led to believe Will was taken by a mythical monster of some sort. What follows after Will Byers disappearance turns weirder and more complex each episode. This is what makes Stranger Things intriguing. Not only is the story weird and creative, it follows each age group and how they are affected. We have the worried-sick parents, stubborn teens trying to prove themselves and confused kids trying to help. All age groups have the same goal. Find Will. The show is all about dimensions, powers and it has a trendy, vintage vibe to it. I highly recommend watching Stranger Things!
