Fairview Library and Theatre continues to be closed due to flooding caused by a broken water main outside the building. On February 18, 2014 we received an update from the consulting engineers. Portions of the slab on the first floor need to be removed and replaced and further testing below these areas is required. As soon as the assessment is completed, information about the status of the building will be updated.
Repair work has started. This includes water removal and drying; testing; removal of furniture, equipment and carpet tiles; drywall removal and repairs; theatre stage removal and replacement; elevator repairs and inspections; electrical repairs and inspections; repair to the water main.
Extended service at nearby branches continues. Hillcrest and Pleasant View branches are open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 8:30 pm and Saturdays, 9 am to 5pm. Bayview branch is open on Sundays from 1:30 to 5 pm.
Meeting and theatre rentals:
Meeting and theatre rentals are on hold until more information about the resumption of library service becomes available. Groups with existing bookings during this time are being contacted by Room Booking staff.
Holds are available at Agincourt branch. The book drop is closed but will be opened as soon as possible. This page will be updated once the book drop opens. Material can be returned to any Toronto Public Library branch.
