Best time of the year to run for your life

RunningHow many months do we have in a year like May? The sun is up around 6am and not down until 8:30pm, birds are chirping even before sunrise, trees are covered by leaves and flowers. The temperature and humidity are just right, the wind is calm...it is a breeze.

During this season, the first thing I'll like to do after getting up is to roll up the blinds and open windows. I want to see, hear, and smell spring! Actually I want more, I want to be part of it. So I put on my running shoes and go out for a run/jog. Something that is good for my body, my mind and my soul.

Running is good for our health and has all the common benefits of other exercises:

  • weight control
  • reducing risk of diseases: cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers...
  • strengthening bones and muscles
  • improving mental health and mood
  • increasing chances of living longer

Plus, it's easy to do. You don't need to be trained to be a runner/jogger (although it doesn't hurt to get some professional advice). Just put on your favorite T-shirt, running shoes, and go. And it's affordabe for everyone. No need to pay for a gym membership, no extra expenses like playing tennis, hockey and golf, etc. It's flexible too, you don't need a partner or to join a team to do it.

Is that simple and easy enough? Are you ready? So let's move!

Here are some books for you to take home from our Toronto Public Library on running:
