Toronto Public Library offers classes on the basic use of Microsoft Word. Check the website to find the times and locations most useful to you.

There is more for you to learn than we could ever cover in our two-hour workshops. So why not try using instructional books to guide you through your learning of Microsoft Word?

These three books are a tiny examply of the wide array of materials available in print (many of these resources are available as eBooks) for you to borrow.

Most computers at the Toronto Public Library currently offer Microsoft Word 2007. Many have been upgraded to the 2010 version of Word. The two versions are very similar and you should have no difficulty using our computers to create documents. Remember to bring your own USB, or memory stick, though, because you can't save your own files on library computers.

Of all the social networks, Facebook is the most popular. The library offers classes for you to learn about Facebook, as well as the basics for you to set up your own Facebook page. Classes are free.

It's easy to find out what branches offer Facebook classes:

From your screen go to the library's home page by clicking on the TPL logo at top left. Towards the middle of the home page, just above the banner of pictures, you will see the heading Programs, classes & exhibits. Click on it.

Next, and to the right,  you will see a box titled "Search programs". Type "facebook" and click "go"

A list of classes that either include instruction on Facebook as part of a program, or classes specifically on Facebook will appear.

To register for the Toronto Reference Library's class on September 29, 10 AM to noon, call 416-393-7209.
