TD Summer Reading Club : Once Upon a Time…

On Tuesday July 24th, Agincourt hosted a special fairytale puppet show, the Paper bag Princess.  The program was geared to children ages six to eight. Though, a number of younger kids also came to participate.  Staff member Debbie was the puppeteer for the show. While Bev, was the main “star”, the one and only, the Paper bag Princess. She was decked out in a stylish PC paper bag “princess dress”. With such enthusiasm from staff, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the show.  There were forty-four participates for Agincourt’s puppet show. Overall, the program was a success!

So if you love fun and adventure, come on out and visit Agincourt Library!

S'more Camping Books for Your Next Outdoor Adventure!

July 9, 2012 | Margaret | Comments (0) Facebook Twitter More...

I love the idea of camping (and making s'mores), though I've never actually been myself.  I love hiking, and being out of doors but the idea of sleeping on the ground in a tent (so close to bugs), cooking outdoors on an open fire (so close to bugs), not being able to use my hair dryer or curling iron (urrrgh).... I know I wouldn't last one night.

However, luckily for you adventurous folks who ARE planning  a camping trip this summer, there are lots of great books available to help the whole family have fun!

For more information on camping, you can also check out the Ontario Parks website, which has lots of advice on visiting or staying at a park, and even help for those new to camping.

The Camping in Ontario website has a directory of campgrounds.... and for that ultimate campfire treat involving graham crackers, chocolate and roasted marshmallows all smooshed together- the s'more- you can develop your own "recipe" and build a virtual s'more at the Hershey's website! Agincourt Branch FAQ: Do you have WiFi?

July 6, 2012 | Margaret | Comments (0) Facebook Twitter More...

Another Frequently Asked Question we get here at Agincourt Branch is whether or not we have free Wireless access?  Can I bring in my laptop and use it in the library??

Absolutely! Agincourt Branch has WiFi.

Wireless-logoIn fact, free wireless access is available at EVERY branch of the Toronto Public Library.  Come in with your laptop or other wireless device, and study or relax in a warm, welcoming and comfortable environment!  You should connect automatically to our network, no password or sign on is needed.  However, you do have to agree to the Toronto Public Library Wireless Internet Access Service Guidelines before connecting.  You cannot print from your own laptop or device, either, but you can from any of the free public access computers in the branch.

If you still have questions or problems connecting at the library, ask staff or check out the Using the Library page of the Toronto Public Library website, or our  Wireless Internet Access Tips

Welcome to the Agincourt District Libraries blog. Our purpose is to provide information about local events and news, library programs, user education classes, author visits and other special events.
